Our Wild Halloween

Halloween is my favorite holiday!  Seriously, you can’t beat costumes and candy!

Disclaimer: This post has a LOT of pictures!

So much to talk about…

First – We get a lot of trick-or-treaters in our neighborhood and since I had to take down my electrical tape spider web when we got our new doors, I wanted to put a little something else up to welcome them.  Another spider web.I did it by just using small command hooks (so they didn’t damage the paint on the brand new doors) and twisting string around them to look like a web.  Then I just hung the spider in the middle.

Easy Peasy.

Next up – Pumpkins.  We each got a pumpkin from Weber Farm a couple weeks ago, but we totally procrastinated on doing anything with them.  Let’s start with Clark’s pumpkin.I have mentioned before that I hoard keep tissue paper from gifts so I am always looking for new projects to use it.  I got my inspiration from this blog and this blog.  Here’s how I did it:

I traced Clark’s foot onto a “template” of cardstock.  Then used it to cut a bunch of feet from white tissue paper.

To apply them to the pumpkin, I brushed it first with Mod Podge, put the foot on top (upside-down to look like ghosts), then brushed the top of them with Mod Podge, making sure to press down the edges.

Then I cut out B’s and O’s (using cookie cutters) from purple tissue paper and applied them the same way I did the ghosts.Last, I used a black marker to draw two eyes and a mouth on each ghost.

I love it!  I turned out exactly how I was hoping.Bob and I just painted our pumpkins.  They aren’t our best work, but we had fun with it.Clark loves playing with all three of them!Speaking of Clark…

His costume was Max from Where the Wild Things Are.  We dressed him up while we handed out candy and he was such a trooper.  Adorable right?!?!

I “made” the costume out of stuff we already had.  The only thing I purchased was his tail (a pair of socks from the dollar store that I stuffed with a kitchen towel).

Bob and I were stick figures.

I can’t wait till Clark can remember this holiday!  I hope he loves it as much as I do!

Happy (Belated) Halloween everyone!

I’m already planning for next year. 🙂

  1. I love command hooks and need to get some for hanging pics. Be glad that you procrastinated doing anything w your pumpkin. I carved Minnie Mouse on ours right away and it rotted in 2 days. I had to throw it out a week before Halloween. I hope you got a cute pic of Clarky w that Halloween onesie on. I am just now realizing you turned his pjs inside out for his costume. Ghetto. Your tail looks better than the dog toy I bought for Jo’s tail. Also it looks like Bob put on weight. HAHAHAHAHAHA..
